The crossbow has become so popular in recent years that it is now the main bow that people use to hunt during Pennsylvania archery season.
There is no doubt that crossbows have grown in popularity in Pennsylvania archery deer hunting, but by how much may come as a bit of a surprise.
Crossbows, which were first legal in the state’s special regulation areas and also for those with a handicapped hunting license, became legal for whitetail deer hunting statewide in 2009. Since then, horizontal arches have made an increasing proportion of archery deer harvest with each passing year.
