Watch: Tyler Bozak saves Blues’ season with Game 5 overtime goal vs. Avalanche

Tyler Bozak and the St. Louis Blues didn’t plan to end their season in Colorado on Wednesday.

Bozak was 3-1 down in the series and scored a crucial goal in overtime at 3:38 to give the Blues a crucial Game 5 win over the Avalanche. Check out the following sequence:

Anyway, based on the first 24 minutes of Wednesday’s tilt, it looked like the Avalanche was moving forward. Nathan MacKinnon scored twice in the first period before Gabriel Landeskog gave Colorado a 3-0 lead four minutes into the second period.

St. Louis countered with three straight goals from Vladimir Tarasenko, Robert Thomas and Justin Faulk.

MacKinnon put the Avalanche back in front 4-3 with less than three minutes to go, but Robert Thomas equalized in the last minute for St. Louis to send the game to OT.

It wasn’t long before Bozak closed the door and slapped a slapshot past Colorado goaltender Darcy Kuemper. The goal was only Bozak’s second of the postseason.

Game 6 puck drop-off is Friday at 8:00 p.m. ET in St. Louis. The Avalanche will attempt to reach their first conference finals since 2002 while the Blues attempt to earn a final trip to Colorado for Game 7.
