Lightning at Avalanche projected gatekeepers

Andrei Vasilevsky (12-6-0, 2.36 GAA, 0.926 SV%, 1 SO – Postseason) vs. Darcy Kuemper (7-2-0, 2.68 GAA, 0.895 SV% – Postseason)

Vasilevskiy had a difficult start in Game 1, scoring 3 goals in the 1st period. He was perfect for the rest of the regulations but allowed Burakovsky’s goal to take the L early in OT. He and the Flash are 1-3 in series openings in this playoff.

Kuemper, who sat out the last 3 games of the Western Conference Finals, was returning from an upper-body injury and didn’t look like he missed a shot. Sure, he conceded 3 goals on 23 shots, but he really only had about a minute of shaky play. He has conceded 3 or fewer goals in 10 of his 11 postseason appearances.

Lightning on Avalanche picks and predictions

Lightning 4, avalanche 2

money line

That LIGHTNING (+125) We’re little dogs out in Game 2, but we all know Vasilevskiy and the two-time defending champion are bouncing back well after losing in the playoffs. In fact, Tampa Bay is 19-1 after losing their last 20 playoff games. That only loss came in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the New York Rangers.

The Avalanche barely got by in Game 1, but they got the job done. Now that Vasilevskiy is reorienting himself after a difficult first half, he should make the difference in Game 2.

against the spread

The Lightning +1.5 (-210) costs 2.1x your potential return. That’s too much risk for not enough reward if you want insurance. Just play Tampa Bay directly.

over under

That UNDER 6.5 (-135) is the game.

Vasilevskiy has a under-2.00 GAA in his last 20 playoff games after losing, and Kuemper has scored 3 or fewer goals in 10 of his 11 postseason appearances. Expect more defense in this second game in Denver.
