Pennsylvania U.S. Senate primary between Oz and McCormick headed for a recount

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – After Tuesday’s primary, there is one more race whose results we are still awaiting.

We already know we’re headed for an automatic recount for the Republican Senate primary, given the difference between Dr. Mehmet Oz and Dave McCormick is only about 1,000 votes.

Well, this is a state competition, and although Dr. Oz is slightly ahead, it is McCormick who won the Republican vote in Allegheny County.

There were some problems with some ballot scanners on Friday – which is not at all unusual, but it has brought new attention to this race.

Both campaigns have already hired recount experts and strategists, and before a recount begins, campaigns can begin filing lawsuits to challenge how individual counties counted votes.

So far, no campaign has gone so far as to say they’ve won the race – but both believe they will emerge victorious.

An even closer look at the numbers will come on Monday as vote counting efforts resume.
