nobody movie_Sharmila Tagore on Working With Daughter-In-Law Kareena Kapoor: ‘Nobody Can Force These Things’

After 12 years, Sharmila Tagore returns to the screens Gulmohar, an Amol Palekar film starring Manoj Bajpayee, Life of Pi fame’s Suraj Sharma and Simran Rishi Bagga. The film will stream on Disney Plus Hotstar. While fans are excited to see her back on screen, many are waiting for a collaboration between her and her daughter-in-law, the actor Kareena Kapoor. When asked about it, Sharmila said it’s best if it happens organically rather than being forced.

Speaking to Times Of India, Sharmila said audiences are “pretty wild” and would like to see a well-made film at the end of the day. She mentioned that Kareena is working on a “beautiful film” (Laal Singh Chaddha). “I’m really excited about that because this is the first post-lockdown shoot and Saif just finished another film. So we’re all a family of working actors and we all enjoy our jobs,” she said.

Sharmila also said she felt no awkwardness or discomfort when she returned to the sets and began working like “a duck in water,” adding that it felt “painless.” She mentioned that the film was shot in their homes to make it feel real. She also praised Manoj Bajpayee and said that she is a great admirer of his.

Sharmila was last seen in the 2010 film Break Ke Baad in which she starred Deepika Padukone and Imran Khan. In a statement announcing her return to films with Gulmohar, she said: “After a considerable hiatus, I am very happy to be in the familiar and loved atmosphere of a film set. I almost immediately agreed to be part of the Gulmohar team after hearing the moving narration of this heartwarming and beautifully written story. It is a very layered and compelling family drama and I’m sure many will enjoy watching it with their loved ones from the comfort of their own home.”
