Robert Pattinson returns to Gotham. In an update that comes as no surprise to absolutely anyone, Warner Bros. has officially confirmed Pattinson’s 2022 dark superhero film The Batman gets a sequel during CinemaCon on April 26th. Since the first film made a very clear promise that the story wasn’t over, fans had been anticipating this film announcement ever since The Batman Premiered. Now that it’s official, here’s what fans can look forward to The Batman2including the new cast of iconic characters expected to debut in the next crime-fighting mystery.
Spoiler alert: This post contains spoilers from the end of The Batman. The Last Moments of The Batman devoted themselves to preparing for its inevitable sequel and teasing who Pattinson’s Batman will face off in its second outing. Eventually caught and arrested, The Riddler found an unexpected ally in prison. Although the prisoner’s face was not shown, it was strongly suggested that he was the Joker, arguably the most iconic Batman villain in existence. After this scene, the end credits of the film flashed a final riddle written in the Riddler’s cipherwhich basically confirmed that the sequel would come months before the official announcement.
Now that The Batman2 is sure to be on the way, here are all the details fans should know about it.
The Batman2 Estimated Release Date
The Batman had a long production run, and filming for a big-budget sequel will likely take just as long. A release date for The Batman2 has yet to be announced, but it probably won’t premiere within the next year. Maybe Batman will return in 2024, but it’s really anyone’s guess at this point.
The Batman2 Estimated occupation
The only star confirmed to reprise his role is apparently Robert Pattinson. It’s very likely that Paul Dano will wreak even more havoc as the Riddler and Colin Farrell will be back at his nightclub as the Penguin as both villains are still at large. The most likely addition will be Barry Keoghan as the Joker, as he was credited with playing the unseen Arkham prisoner in the final moments The Batman.
The big question mark for the sequel is Zoë Kravitz’s Catwoman. She was a main character in the first film and even started a won’t-they-won’t-her romance with Batman, but the film ended with her leaving Gotham. It’s unclear if this was their final goodbye, or if Kravitz will put the cat ears back on for another film.
