New Delhi [India], May 26 (ANI): Veteran actor Kamal Haasan said Thursday that film directors do not categorize films based on directions and communities while emphasizing the importance of language. He further stated that diversity is the strength of the country.
“We never say West Indian films, we say Bollywood. We are losing the sense of direction, the sense of community, and it should stay that way. As for the language, it is our pride. No one will lose their language for another. I will be curious to learn another language,” Kamal Haasan told ANI during the promotion of his upcoming film Vikram.
Starring Kamal Haasan, Shivani Narayanan, Kalidas Jayaram, Narain, Antony Varghese and Arjun Das, Vikram hits theaters on June 3.

“For example, we converse in English, it doesn’t mean I lose Tamil, Marathi or Bengali. As a Bengali it will always be the same for me,” he added.
Speaking of ‘Pan India’ movies, the veteran actor said: “There’s no problem, it’s a good thing that’s happening. It’s like you never complain about South Indian Gasoline or North Indian Gasoline, it’s fuel and we use it. It’s for all of us to enjoy. Diversity and unity should be preserved. Diversity is our strength.”
The ‘Vikram’ actor said he wanted every Indian film to reach Hollywood platforms. “I want more people to see it, that’s why we spend so much on advertising that reaches all of India. I want every Indian film to reach the Hollywood platform,” he added.
Actor Haasan also said he missed cinema during the four-year gap.
“I tried to be different Vikram film. I’m like an audience. We filmmakers try to make films of the same genre differently. Nowadays the techniques have improved a lot. We only speak one language, which is ‘cinema’,” he explained. (ANI)
