Malayalam Actor Prithviraj’s latest film Jana Gana Mana will be released on Netflix on June 2nd. Directed by Queen Fame’s Dijo Jose Antony, the film hit theaters in April and received positive reviews.
The film deals with serious socio-political issues. The film’s trailer hinted that the film will center around some kind of armed rebellion led by Prithviraj’s character. Prithviraj appears in the trailer as a defeated man who has seemingly accepted his helplessness in the struggle against political power. Or does he want others to think?
“Here banknotes are banned and, if necessary, voting is banned. Nobody will question anything. Because it’s India, isn’t it?” Prithviraj tells a corrupt politician who pokes fun at the idea of fairness and justice. The conversation between Prithviraj and the politician is interspersed with tense action scenes. We see young people violently rebelling against the establishment, police officers whining about their inability to carry out their duties due to political pressure, and a man who appears to be suffering a great loss for failing to uphold his integrity and ethics game has set.

“Just like in Dijo’s first film Queen, where Salim Kumar asks some pertinent questions about gender equality, in Jana Gana Mana Prithviraj plays an advocate and gives viewers some chills by asking pertinent questions about entrenched casteism and racism that prevail in the country,” Goutham wrote in his review for VS Indianexpress.com.
The film is financed by Prithviraj’s wife Supriya Menon for their home production banner Prithviraj Productions. The film is said to have managed to become a hit at the box office.
Jana Gana Mana also reunited Prithviraj and Suraj Venjaramoodu after the duo set the box office on fire in 2019 with the driver’s license.
