Jacob Tremblay (Room) and Woody Norman (C’mon C’mon) play with The Skeleton Treewhich Sierra/Affinity sells at the Cannes market.

Paul Barry’s directorial debut is based on Iain Lawrence’s 2016 book of the same name 87 north and 3fifty.

The Skeleton Tree follows two boys whose lives are changed forever when they survive a boating accident and are stranded on a remote Alaskan coast. Encountered by environmental disasters and unimaginable obstacles, the fundamentally different couple must eventually trust and rely on each other to survive.

7North’s Kelly McCormick is producing the film along with Barry, who is writing and directing, Michael Collins and Kristian Andresen via her 3Fifty Films banner, while 87North’s David Leitch is serving as executive producer.

Tremblay starred in the Oscar-nominated film Room and other functions such as Good boys, The robber, Wonderand Lukewhile Norman co-starred alongside Joaquin Phoenix C’mon C’mon and received a BAFTA nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He will next be seen in Universal Pictures. Last voyage of the Demeterscheduled for release in early 2023, and Lionsgate’s Spider web opposite Lizzy Caplan.
