Musical icon Rita Moreno is said to be taking part Fast and Furious family and joined the ensemble of Fast X.
Rita Moreno, arguably one of the most prolific performers in American theater and film, has starred in West Side Story, singing in the rain and the king and me has joined the ever-growing Toretto clan. She will play the grandmother of Vin Diesel’s Dom.
The news was announced via a video posted to Diesel’s Instagram page. Diesel said, “It has always been my dream to work with Rita Moreno and the fact that she is playing my grandmother here brings a smile to my soul. I’m so blessed.” Moreno added, “I think my old man has been waiting for you to invite me.”
The actress, who boasts the rare achievement of having won all four major American awards for her performance – an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony – is joining one of the most diverse all-star casts in cinema franchises at.
The cast of the cast, Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Sung Kang and Nathalie Emmanuel, has already been announced. It was recently announced that Scott Eastwood will reprise his role as Little Nobody from 2017 the fate of the angry while Charlie Theron is also back as a malicious Cipher.
Jason Momoa has been cast as the new antagonist (it’s not yet known if he will play another secret brother/cousin/son), while Brie Larson, Daniela Melchior and Alan Ritchson have been cast in undisclosed roles.
Fast X made headlines earlier this month when director Justin Lin left the project on the all-encompassing excuse of “creative differences.” The film is now helmed by Unleashed and Now you see Me Director Louis Letterrier.
It is scheduled for release on May 19, 2023.
