Zara Phythian, an actress and stuntwoman best known to film audiences for acting the “Brunette Zealot” (a henchman of Mads Mikkelsen’s Kaecilius) in the 2016 Marvel Studios film Doctor StrangeShe has found herself in court along with her husband. The couple are accused of multiple offenses in the UK relating to the alleged sexual abuse of a minor in the early 2000s. BBC brings news of the trial and the reports, revealing that the victim, now an adult, had an interview with police before the jury today revealing details of what happened to Ms Phythian and her husband Victor Marke from 2005 to 2008 .
The victim described the events in detail and revealed instances where alcohol had forced her into sexual situations. Marke and Phythian face “14 counts of sexual activity with a child,” according to the outlet, and Marke also faces four other counts related to another party. Phythian and her husband were martial arts instructors when they met the alleged victim, who revealed the couple threatened her should she reveal what had happened between them. “I knew it was wrong but I just didn’t know how to get out of the situation or say anything,” she revealed to police. “He just said no one would believe me if I told them anyway… They always had power over me.”
Although Phythian primarily practices martial arts as a career, he has made other media appearances alongside the Marvel Studios film. Phythian will not appear in the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, nor any other Marvel Studios production since this film. Her other credits include mostly indie action and horror films shot in the UK Get out alive, knights of the damnedand The hike. She is credited with working stunts in the upcoming Amazon Prime Studios spy series Citadel on IMDB.
