Nick Paul returns vs. Avalanche adfte concerning injury

The two-time defending champion Tampa Bay Lightning got off to a rough start in his quest for a three-peat in the Stanley Cup Finals against the Colorado Avalanche. The Avs hopped out a 2-game-to-zero series lead, with the series moving to Tampa Bay for Games 3 and 4. At the end of one period, the Lightning had a 2-1 lead, although it came with a price. Left winger Nick Paul was forced out of the game late in the first half with an apparent leg injury, according to The Athletic’s Shayna Goldman.

Paul was pushed from behind by Avalanche defense attorney Josh Manson. The Lightning winger hit the ice hard, landing awkwardly on his right leg.

Paul, 27, hobbled off the ice onto the bench and appeared to be in severe pain. While many feared a tough loss for the Lightning, it seems Paul was the one back to the start of the second third, dodged an injury bullet.

Traded from the Ottawa Senators, Paul appeared in 21 regular season games for Tampa Bay, recording 14 points, nine assists and five goals scored.

In 20 postseason games, Paul has eight points and four goals. As of press time, Paul, who is struggling with his skating, scored a goal to give Tampa Bay a 3-1 lead.

So far so good for the Lightning.
