Here’s something you probably didn’t know, unless you have an affinity for classic boy bands clinging to their youth: New Kids on the Block, the ’90s boy band featuring the Wahlberg brother, who is known for “Masked Singer.” -Judge Jenny McCarthy played a concert in the Bay Area Wednesday.

But the boy band didn’t make headlines for their deeply unabashed game of nostalgia — they sang along with Salt-N-Pepa, En Vogue, and Rick Astley for a joint headlining “mixtape” tour (and a shameless collaborative single to go with that tour). titled Bring Back the Time, of course).

No, they’re making headlines because New Kids on the Block, who are very famous from Boston, dared to wear Boston Celtics jerseys on the eve of their matchup against the Golden State Warriors – in the Bay Area.

The Mercury News reported Thursday that during their Wednesday show at the SAP Center in San Jose, the crowd went wild and roared even as the band showed their allegiance to Beantown. (To be fair, they have a habit of wearing Boston jerseys to shows — as if anyone’s ever forgotten where they’re from.)

“We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention a couple of upcoming basketball games,” Donnie Wahlberg said during the show, the newspaper reported.

The only way to rectify this: En Vogue – who famously formed in Oakland – were supposed to represent the Splash Brothers during their sets for the rest of the finale.
