NBA Rumors: Sam Hauser, Celtics agree to three-year contract

Sam Hauser has secured a spot on a championship-level roster.

Hauser has signed a three-year deal with the Boston Celtics worth about $6 million ($2 million a year), with the first two years fully guaranteed, The Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach reported Sunday.

Hauser joined the Celtics on a two-way contract last August after not being drafted from Virginia. After playing well for G-League partner Maine Celtics (16.9 points per game on 48.7 shooting percent), Hauser’s contract was turned into a standard NBA deal that allowed him to play for Boston’s run to the to stay on the roster for the NBA Finals.

Forsberg: What else is on the Celtics offseason to-do list?

The 24-year-old appeared in 26 games for the Celtics and averaged just 2.5 points per game but scored 43.2 percent of his 3 points (19 to 44).

While Hauser is unlikely to crack a loaded Boston rotation, which now includes Malcolm Brogdon and Danilo Gallinari, the Celtics clearly like the Wisconsin native enough as a back-of-the-bench sniper to keep him in the herd.

Hauser will get a chance to prove his worth at the NBA Summer League, which begins for Boston on Saturday, July 9 in Las Vegas.
