JD Davison shares reaction to being drafted by Celtics

JD Davison is looking forward to working with the Boston Celtics.

The Alabama product was selected by the Cs in the second round (No. 53 overall) of the 2022 NBA draft. Judging by his tweets shortly after the election, he’s thrilled with where he’s ended up.

Forsberg: What else is on the Celtics offseason to-do list?

On Tuesday, Davison opened up about what was going through his mind after being drafted from Boston.

“When I was called up by the Celtics, when my agent called me and said the Celtics had you, it was just like you were in an organization where they were winning,” he said. “So it was just really important where I know I can come in here and get better every day and just come here and win. I was very happy.”

Davison averaged 8.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 33 games for the Crimson Tide last season. The athletic point guard believes he will be a perfect fit for the defensive Celtics.

“You really have to play defense in Boston. They’re one of the best defenses in the league, in my opinion,” added Davison. “So you have to come in here and be a dog. I think I can help them improve on that and just be a dog on the defensive.”

Green Teamers will be able to see Davison in action when the Las Vegas Summer League begins on Saturday. Tip-off for the opener against the Miami Heat is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. ET.
