Jayson Tatum gets reality check from Stephen A. Smith

For the Boston Celtics to beat the Golden State Warriors in Game 6 of the NBA Finals, Jayson Tatum needs to be promoted. Additionally, Stephen A. Smith believes the youngster should change his approach to the game.

Speaking on ESPN’s first take, Smith was asked who he thinks should up his game in Game 6 between Tatum and Jaylen Brown. The two players have put up solid numbers, but they seem to dwindle in crunch time and biggest moments — and that’s been the case in the last two games Boston lost.

For Smith, of course, Tatum’s job is to carry the burden for the Celtics. He also warned the 24-year-old not to expect the referees to receive the calls if he attacks the basket.

“He’s asking the officers for help. That’s not how you win championships… in the championship round, the officials will look at you like, ‘What do you want me to do? That is your task. Play’,” Smith said of Tatum per ClutchPoint’s Twitter.

Stephen A. Smith makes a good point. At the end of the day, Jayson Tatum needs to focus on the things he can control and work on them. He must not be distracted by the officials and the lack of calls and thrown out of his rhythm.

The Celtics have to win Game 6 or it’s over. With that in mind, it’s probably the best time for Tatum to heed Smith’s advice,
