Jaylen Brown’s Twitter activity has Celtics fans clamoring for Kevin Durant

Boston Celtics winger Jaylen Brown liked a tweet from Kevin Durant, who could find himself on the trade block if the Nets lose Kyrie Irving.

Irving could re-sign with Brooklyn and make over $30 million in the process. While that seems like an easy decision, Irving wasn’t thrilled with the Nets’ long-term vision or their eagerness to bring him back into the fold. This feeling was mutual.

Sean Marks and company have no problem losing Irving, largely because it would give them the flexibility needed to commit to the free hand. Unfortunately, losing Kyrie could also mean betting on Kevin Durant. At 34, KD has no time to waste getting more rings.

A simple social media move by Brown is probably nothing to scoff at, but Boston basketball fans see it as a Celtics pawn.

Could Boston Celtics trade for Kevin Durant?

Any trade for Durant would likely require a record return, a fact pointed out by ESPN front-office insider Bobby Marks.

Boston has a lot going for it, but in doing so, they could break down a big chunk of their core that just made it to the NBA Finals. So the question remains: Is it worth it for the Celtics to trade much of their current roster and future fortune for a 34-year-old star, even if he’s one of the NBA’s best players?

Depth wins championships in the NBA. Boston has that and has more to add this offseason. The Durant acquisition could put Brown, Jayson Tatum and company in a similar position to KD’s current team, the Nets.

While Brooklyn is entertaining, there’s only so much they can do to put together a competitive, comprehensive roster. The Cs would rather avoid being in this position.
