Jaden Ivey is being projected as a potential top-five pick in the NBA draft, but there’s one team he reportedly wants to avoid being picked by.
In his latest mock draft, ESPN’s Jonathan Givony writes that Ivey would prefer not to be drafted fourth overall by the Sacramento Kings. Givony hints the Kings may not get Iveys medical info or get a chance to take him in for training. However, that probably won’t stop the Kings from picking the Purdue guard as they picked Davion Mitchell in the same circumstances last season.
Ultimately, Ivey might not have much to say about how this ends for him. The Kings pick fourth place and it’s likely that the top three consensus players Jabari Smith, Chet Holmgren and Paolo Banchero will be eliminated from the board. That would make Ivey a very tempting option for Sacramento in 4th place as arguably the best player available.
A saving grace from Ivey’s point of view could be a trade. Rumor has it that the kings are open to such a scenario, which would likely involve someone trading for the Purdue guard.
