Hornets select Mark Williams with 15th pick in 2022 NBA Draft

The Charlotte Hornets selected Duke center Mark Williams as the 15th pick in the 2022 NBA draft.

Williams spent two years with Duke and became a lottery prospect in his second season. As a sophomore, the 20-year-old big man averaged 11.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, 0.9 assists and 2.8 blocks on 72.1% shots from the field.

At the NBA Draft Combine, Williams produced some impressive measurements. He was the second tallest player barefoot (7’0) and tallest player measured in shots (7’2). His wingspan of 7’6.5 was also the longest on record. Williams weighed 242.4 pounds.

Additionally, its standing range has been measured at 9’9, which is the second highest range ever measured in combine history, behind only Tacko Fall.

The Duke’s big man was closely associated with the Hornets leading up to the draft at Mocks. He reckons he would be a good fit for Charlotte as they are currently looking for a center to pair alongside LaMelo Ball and their current core.

Charlotte will also benefit from Williams’ impressive defensive skills as they have struggled on this side of the ball. He also plans to be an elite finisher, quality rebounder, and mad athlete.
