The Pelicans desperately need more perimeter shooters to hold off their offensive. The 2021 team shocked the world by making the Western Conference playoffs and now has an intact core of Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson.
To take the next step, the Pelicans need to find more scorers and create more margin. They have a lottery pick due to the Los Angeles Lakers’ horrendous 2021 campaign and stand a great chance to capitalize with a top 8 pick.
AJ Griffin is a 6’6, 220-pound forward with a 7-foot wingspan.
He’s a shooter who can create alone from dribbles, or he can prove to be a knock-down threat.

A former five-star basketball recruit, Griffin had a season of ups and downs with the Duke Blue Devils. The strong existing infrastructure that New Orleans offers gives it a great landing spot. If Griffin is indeed the 8th pick, he can develop his game and make his versatile goal-scoring ability available to a team that needs him.
His presence on the squad could only help Ingram and hopefully Williamson, while their skill ensures he’s in no rush to develop.
