The Boston Celtics announced that assistant coach Ben Sullivan will lead the team’s Las Vegas Summer League squad in an announcement distributed to the media Monday afternoon, a change from last season’s Sin City contingent that will be managed by Celtics assistant coach Joe Mazzulla.
With some shakes hitting Boston’s coaching staff following the departure of assistants Will Hardy and Evan Bradds to the Utah Jazz, as the latter follows the former to Sal Lake City, where Hardy will be hired by the Jazz as their next head coach, we can expect some role changes and maybe some new hires. Some analysts speculated that the posting could help determine who gets the mantle as Celtics head coach Ime Udoka’s next senior assistant after Hardy’s exit.
The opportunity, at least, will be an opportunity for Sullivan to showcase his skills as a head coach, which may put him in a position to expand the Udoka coaching tree in the future.
