Celtics destroyed by Warriors in Game 6 of the NBA Finals in the Garden

BOSTON, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) — Crowds of Celtics fans make their way to TD Garden Thursday for Game 6 of the NBA Finals.

Thursday was the last Celtics game in Boston this season. We spoke to fans and local businesses making the most of a big Thursday night in Beantown.

“Are you listening to them? are you listening to her right now? It’s a great time to be in Boston…the greatest city in the world,” said Celtics fans Ben Vaz and Josh Muariello.

Causeway Street, which swells with Celtics fans on Thursday night. Everyone is reveling in one last chance to see their team in Boston this season.

“I’ve always been a Celtics fan, never been to an NBA game, so this is just a dream trip for me,” said Bill Hewitt of Missouri.

The Celtics, who hosted the Golden State Warriors in Game 6 of the NBA Finals, and fans who paid a pretty penny to see some of the action said:

“Worth it. It was over 15g but I’m telling you, I live, I bleed and I die for the Boston Celtics,” said Celtics fans Ryan Cappola and Manny Rosa.

It’s also a big night for those outside of the garden.

“That’s the best I can do to actually be in the arena and the energy that you can still feel,” said Crystal Love from Boston.

Among them was Causeway Boston co-owner Dave Ferrando, who was preparing for a full house at his bar and restaurant.

“It’s good for the city all round, we’re going to be full … All hands on deck, I say people don’t ask me for a day off,” Ferrando said.

Diehard supporters shared a message for their beloved team ahead of a possible championship.

“I have faith in you now that you’re about to catch us a dub, win us the championship, Celtics in seven, let’s go baby go Celtics baby,” said Vaz & Muariello.

“They know what they’ve been here before, and they know what matters,” Love said.

Win or lose, fans said, the future is bright for Beantown.

“The Celtics are going in the right direction, they’ve locked in that core, I’m happy about that, but we didn’t get that far just to finish it tonight,” Green said.

The game ended at 9 p.m. The Celtics were defeated by the Warriors with a final score of 103-90.
