Fellow big man Luke Kornet returns to the Boston Celtics after agreeing to a two-year deal, as reported Chris Haynes from Yahoo! Sports last Friday.
Kornet appeared in 12 games for Boston in the 2021-22 season, averaging 2.2 points and 2.7 rebounds in 7.1 minutes. The 7-foot-2 center also played in 11 G-League games with the Celtics, averaging 14.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.7 assists.
Kornet returned to the Celtics after the team waived him last October. He then jumped through the league, signing 10-day contracts with the Cavaliers in December and the Milwaukee Bucks in January. He played two games with Cleveland and one with Milwaukee, and re-signed with the Celtics in February.
There is no reported number of Kornet’s annual salary, but it will almost certainly be a number that will allow Boston to continue searching for a center more likely to provide reliable support for Al Horford and Robert Williams next season.
