Broncos celebrate Avalanche in Western Conference Final, take hockey quiz

The Denver Broncos may not be very familiar with many hockey terms, but they cheer them on Nathan MacKinnon and the Colorado Avalanche.

Broncos players were asked about Avalanche Stanley Cup Playoff success in a new video posted to the team’s Twitter.

“I wouldn’t say I’m a hockey fan, but I’m an Avs fan,” linebacker Bradley Chubb said in the video. “I like the Avs, I like going to the games, the atmosphere is crazy so I’m glad they are succeeding right now.”

Tweet from @Avalanche: That’s all for us.

Later in the video, the Broncos were asked to provide the meaning of some hockey phrases such as “light the lamp,” “five-hole,” “chicklets,” “biscuit in the basket,” and “sin bin.” Most players struggled to answer the questions but found some fun answers. Chubb actually did quite well on the quiz.

Other players rather not.

“Light the lamp? Come on man is this real? Is that a real term?” Justin Simmons asked.

“The pre-game torch or something?” Wide receiver KJ Hamler answered.

Five-hole was another term that stumbled players.

“The five-hole…the penalty box,” suspected offensive warden Dalton Risner.

Though the Broncos aren’t hockey experts, they ended the video by wishing and telling the Avalanche good luck Nathan MacKinnon to score another hat trick.
