Boston Celtics have second-best odds to win 2023 NBA Championship

The Boston Celtics were just short of recapturing the nickname “NBA’s Most Successful Franchise” last season as they were just two wins away from bringing home their 18th Larry O’Brien Trophy before winning the Golden State Warriors lost in Game 6 of the 2022 NBA Finals.

Since that season-ending contest, it seems like Brad Stevens and company have worked tirelessly to prop up some of the loose ends that have hampered the ball club’s chances of ultimate glory, and frankly it seems they already have that goal achieved.

On the first full day of this year’s NBA Free Agency, just over two weeks after the Finals wrapped, the C’s managed to hit gold not once, but twice in a matter of hours.

Earlier in the day, it was announced that the organization had reached an agreement to sign veteran forward Danilo Gallinari once he’s cleared of waivers following his split with the San Antonio Spurs (there from the Atlanta Hawks in the blockbuster Dejounte Murray traded).

Then, not too long after, news broke that the front office was making another potentially impactful move, this time via the trade market when it was reported that the Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers had agreed to a deal that would send a point guard , Malcolm Brogdon to Eastern Massachusetts.

With those two moves above, Stevens was able to add much-needed chord to his second unit (something they’ve lacked for years), supportive protection, and more points without sacrificing any of their core.

With that, many are excited to see what this team could look like next season as there are plenty of rotation experiments that could be done thanks to the versatility of this revamped roster.

But before we take a look at what coach Ime Udoka will end up doing with his lineups, oddsmakers are already tipping Boston with the second-best odds of winning the 2023 NBA Finals.

The top 10 reads as follows:

team opportunities

  • Phoenix Suns +550
  • Boston Celtics +600
  • Golden State Warriors +600
  • LA Clippers +650
  • Milwaukee Bucks +700
  • LA Lakers +1000
  • Miami Heat +1000
  • Philly 76ers +1200
  • Dallas Mavericks +2000
  • Memphis Grizzlies +2000

Now, while those chances are incredibly exciting to watch considering we still have three more months of offseason efforts to take care of, there’s a good chance the Boston Celtics will take the top spot after October’s tip could be on this list.

From now on, everything depends on what the decision makers of the team end up doing.
