AVALANCHE NOTEBOOK: Kadri, Cogliano Out For Game 1

After the morning’s Avalanche skating at Ball Arena, coach Jared Bednar confirmed what had been obvious up until then – that neither Nazem Kadri nor Andrew Cogliano would be available for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Kadri falls out with a broken thumb. Cogliano suffered a broken finger in the win in Game 4 against the Oilers in the Western Conference Finals.

No one took part in the morning skating session.

So the news that they won’t be dressing on Wednesday night wasn’t surprising.

“Those two guys, I’ll consider them every day,” Bednar said. “I will not reveal any information about our injuries afterwards or our line-up or who is out and for what reason. I will not give an appetizer either.”

The final part of this was Bednar refusing to confirm that Darcy Kuemper, who manned the starter net on the skate, would start in gate. But everything indicated that he will.

Nico Sturm is expected to step down in the line-up, which is usually Cogliano’s place in the fourth row.
