As the Stanley Cup celebrations continue, preparations for the 2022-23 season are already underway. The Colorado Avalanche will be back on hold before we know it as they just released their preseason schedule and the expectation is that the unveiling of the full regular season schedule is right around the corner.
It’s interesting that the Avalanche is bringing back split-squad games, which they haven’t done in many years. This is apparently intended to meet the preseason target of six games set by the NHL. Also, it’s pretty early in training camp, not just for the first game but for most of the schedule, which means a lot of early cuts. There are many breaks in the schedule, a four-day break after game four and a full week before opening night as the season is expected to start around October 11th.
