Adrian Wojnarowski reports Knicks have competition for No. 4 pick and Jaden Ivey

One week from now, New York Knicks fans will know the results of the 2022 NBA Draft. The main question right now is: will the Knicks stay at No. 11 or trade for Jaden Ivey at No. 4?

At the NBA Countdown Thursday night before Game 6 of the NBA Finals, Adrian Wojnarowski reported that “many teams” are working to strike a deal with the Sacramento Kings.

The odds didn’t fall in New York’s favor during the draft lottery because Ivey will be long gone by the time the Knicks make their 11th pick. But that’s only if the team doesn’t trade.

With the draft due in six days, the New York front office is likely working to put together a package that minute. It’s a race to the finish line for several teams in the league. The prize is number 4 and Ivey. Who will prevail?

Will the Knicks trade for guard Jaden Ivey in the 2022 NBA Draft?

Wojnarowski named a few teams that have shown interest in Ivey. Detroit (No. 5), Indiana (No. 6), Washington (No. 10) and of course New York are the four teams he mentioned by name. He also said teams “outside the lottery” are interested.

As a predicted top four pick, Ivey will not come cheaply. Woj said:

“Sacramento’s asking price will be substantial to move in there. I think they essentially see this as a four player blueprint. There’s a drop off after four. Monte McNair, your GM, you can expect him to be on the phone next week as we get closer to Thursday’s draft. If they move that selection, I think they expect a lot in return.”

He also mentioned that the teams have already reached Sacramento and that talks would increase over the next week.

You can’t help but wonder who the Knicks will offer in exchange for Ivey. Julius Randle? Quentin Grimes? Immanuel Quickley? Obi Toppin? The Kings won’t be happy with a trio of Nerlens Noel, Alec Burks and Derrick Rose.

Note that RJ Barrett was not mentioned. If Sacramento is brave enough to ask about Barrett, Leon Rose should hang up immediately. The line should be drawn at #3 in the 2019 draft.

The next six days will be extremely revealing. Will Ivey wear an orange and blue beanie in a week?
