2022 NBA Lottery Mock Draft 1.0

With the 2022 NBA Draft less than a week away, here is our Charlotte Hornets 2022 NBA Lottery Mock Draft 1.0. The Hornets, who have a pair of picks at 13 and 15, probably won’t keep both picks this year. While it’s fun to speculate on a possible trade in the mix, this mock draft will be based on the assumption that Charlotte chooses between 13 and 15.

*Important NOTE* While this is a mock draft, it will not reflect what I believe will actually happen. Instead, this is how I would approach this design. I’ll also just list a sentence or two as to why I believe every team will make their picks (except the Hornets).

#1 Chet Holmgren, F/C, Gonzaga – Orlando Magic

Holmgren is by far the best player in the class. It might look like Orlando will pick Jabari Smith from Auburn, but that would be quite a mistake in my eyes.

#2 Jabari Smith, F, Auburn – Oklahoma City Thunder

That aside, Smith is still an incredible prospect. With his size, shooting ability and defense, he could take OKC to the next level of competition.

#3 Paolo Banchero, F, Duke—Houston Rockets

Houston has its guard of the future in Jalen Green. Here they get their great future in Banchero.

#4 Jaden Ivey, G, Purdue-Sacramento Kings

Sacramento does. They collect guards. They have guards. It doesn’t make sense until you remember it’s Sacramento.

#5 Shaedon Sharpe, G, “Kentucky” – Detroit Pistons

As the biggest question mark in the draft, Sharpe Detroit could provide a nice complement to Cade Cunningham.
